Estyr is a Toronto-based Canadian singer-songwriter who combines whimsy and vulnerability with ethereal vocals. Her upcoming single “Container” (April 10, 2026) launches a new chapter of music exploring inner emotional worlds through imagery of worms, gardens, and childlike wonder. It follows the release of “Sunbeam” (February 27, 2026) with LUCKY VARIETY, an alternative R&B duo project with Juno Award-winning producer TLO (TSOL, Shad).
Estyr is an emerging producer and SOCAN Equity x Production Levels 1 and 2 alumna. She produced and performed the original instrumental score for In the Morning Sun, a short documentary chronicling her family’s journey from downtown Toronto to the Philippines. The film premieres at South by Southwest in March 2026.
In addition to her solo project, launched in 2019, her chamber pop collective Tiger Balme is working toward its sophomore release, “Blessings and Curses” slated for release in March 2027. The band has played top Canadian festivals and venues, was named one of “10 must-attend concerts at NXNE 2023”, and won 3rd prize in the 2024 RBC Emerging Musician Program.
With roots in Finland and Singapore, Estyr's 2021 EP "All Tied Up" offered a nostalgic reflection on her coming-of-age as a biracial second-generation immigrant. Its impressionistic restlessness and alluring, modulated vocal layers garnered features in Exclaim! Magazine and CBC Music. As a solo act and in her LUCKY VARIETY duo, Estyr has performed at festivals and venues around Ontario and northeastern Europe, including Mariposa (2025), Festivale du Voyageur (2025), Folk Music Ontario (2025), NXNE (2023), Wavelength's Big Summer Thing (2023), and Tallinn Music Week 2022.
Press Quotes
"Estyr buries pop melodies beneath layers of electronic and folk textures as if they were a treasure hidden within vast, lush landscapes, and the journey's totally worth it. Her All Tied Up EP is rich with compelling details, like relatable musings on suburban alienation in "Suck It Up," the title track's acoustic guitar accents or the captivating vocals of "High on a Feeling.""
- Matt Bobkin, Exclaim! (Canada)
"Toronto-based artist Estyr makes slow-burning songs about heartbreak. Her latest single “High on a Feeling” floats with a sustained euphoria of iridescent synths and an affecting vocal performance. The song is off an upcoming EP that promises to be one of the year’s best."
- Nuvo Magazine (Vancouver, Canada)
“Thanks to its honey-like pacing, echoing instrumentation, and Estyr’s beautifully crystalline vocals, “Human Alchemy” is the type of song that turns the messiest of breakups into an exercise in artful contemplation.”
- Li-Wei Chu, From The Intercom, (Los Angeles, USA)
